Specialty Home Upgrades in Dallas-Fort Worth

Smart-home integration, accessibility remodels, energy and envelope upgrades, and outdoor living, delivered inside our DFW remodel and addition projects.

How we work

Specialty upgrades are the capabilities that make a remodel work harder: smart-home wiring and lighting control, accessibility features that let you stay in your home as you age, insulation and window upgrades that cut heat gain and quiet the house, and outdoor living spaces that extend the floor plan past the back door. We don’t sell these as standalone installs. We build them into our kitchen, bath, whole-home, and addition projects, where the walls are already open and the design is already on the table.

This category is for Dallas-Fort Worth homeowners planning a remodel who want to solve more than one problem at once. If you’re opening a wall for a kitchen, that’s the moment to run low-voltage cable, add insulation, and think about how the space connects to a patio. If you’re rebuilding a primary bath, it’s the moment to widen the doorway and set blocking for grab bars, whether you need them today or in fifteen years.

The four upgrade categories.

Smart-home integration. Structured wiring, lighting control, motorized shades, whole-home audio, camera and access control rough-in, and a clean equipment location. We plan the low-voltage design alongside the electrical plan so switches, keypads, and outlets land where you’ll use them. Devices change every few years. The wiring behind them shouldn’t have to.

Accessibility and aging in place. Zero-threshold showers, comfort-height fixtures, wider doorways and hallways, lever hardware, blocking for future grab bars, lowered counters and reachable storage, improved lighting, and single-level living plans. For clients who need ADA-compliant work in a home office or rental unit, we design to the applicable standard and document it.

Energy and envelope. Attic insulation and air sealing, radiant barrier, attic ventilation, window and exterior door replacement, and duct sealing coordinated with a licensed HVAC contractor. In a North Texas summer the attic is where most of the heat comes in, and it’s the first place we look.

Outdoor living. Covered patios, pergolas, decks, outdoor kitchens, fire features, and the electrical, gas, and drainage that make them usable. We design outdoor spaces to match the house, not to look like they were bolted on.

Where specialty upgrades fit in our remodel services.

These capabilities show up inside four of our services, and the connection is usually obvious once you’re planning.

A whole-home remodel is the natural home for structured wiring, envelope upgrades, and single-level living plans, because we’re already in every room.

Kitchen remodeling pairs with lighting control, reachable storage, and outdoor kitchen connections when the kitchen opens to the yard.

Bathroom remodeling is where most aging-in-place work happens: curbless showers, blocking, comfort-height fixtures, and better light.

Home additions let us design accessibility and energy performance in from the start, and they’re the most common place we build covered patios and outdoor kitchens.

How MASACO runs specialty work.

Upgrades follow the same process as the remodel they belong to. We model the finished space in 3D so you can see the patio cover from the kitchen window before we pour a footing. The upgrade scope is written into your fixed-scope proposal with its own allowances, so the smart-home budget doesn’t quietly eat the tile budget. Your project manager coordinates the specialty trades alongside the framers and finishers, and you get weekly written updates with photos.

Permits, engineering, and HOA submittals are handled for you, which matters here. In most DFW cities, attached patio covers, gas lines, and new electrical circuits require permits, and master-planned communities commonly require HOA architectural review for anything visible from outside the house.

Where we work.

We deliver these upgrades across our Dallas-Fort Worth service areas, on the same projects and with the same team as the remodel itself.

If your remodel should do more than replace finishes, book a consultation through our contact page. Tell us what you want the house to do better, and we’ll show you how to fold it into the plan.
